// LINEN LOVE //

Is there anything more refreshing and comfortable than linen clothing?!

Linen is a very strong and absorbent texture made out of fibres from the flax plant. Linen dries at a much faster rate than cotton, it is naturally anti-bacterial and is a good conductor of warmth therefore a popular fabric to use for clothing or bedding in the summer.

Scroll down to see some of my favourites and how to wear/style them…

  1. First one up – a linen-blend jumpsuit. The composition of this beautiful piece is linen and viscose, which means less ironing!!! Yessss! Mix it with a straw hat (which I own and love myself), a jute shopper and those absolute timeless Greek inspired leather strap sandals. Once we are allowed to travel again, you will take them on every single holiday, I promise! Add some colourful jewellery (here) and your outfit is ready!

2. The linen shirt! This Mao collar shirt is the perfect balance between casual and smart. Adding again the same flat sandals in brown, some quirky summer jewels and this gorgeous straw cross body bag. I love this sand tone inspired look!

3. Can we all please appreciate this linen dress (in both colours)!!! I would live all summer in it, dressed up and down…Here are my two options how I would wear it, but there are so many more…how would you wear it?

4. Linen trousers – how much fun is this pink colour! Here are a few options you could wear those linen-blend joggers with…If you don’t feel as brave, there are other colours available, too…

5. Linen shorts – my favourite piece in summer, especially worn as a suit. Below is my outfit I wore in Capri last year and I would jump into the same clothes without changing anything right now. I tried to recreate this look by adding some colourful accessories.

Capri, Italy 2019

I hope you liked my little selection. I would wear EVERYTHING right now. Which outfit is your favourite? Please comment below as I would really like to know.

PRETTY T’S

Oh, I do miss fashion. I know it is not the most important subject right now, but boy oh boy, do I miss it! I try to dress up at home, but change back into my “comfy” outfit literally 30 min later, because we go out and work in the garden or try to sort out the loft or or or and I just don’t want the clothes to be ruined…simply as that…

Anyway, I managed to sort out my wardrobe and realised that I need a couple of colourful easy going tops and T-shirts. So here are a few I have my eyes on right now…

Back to 1970s and the tie dye era! I fell for this bright T-shirt and ordered it for me. Cant wait to style it!
How would you name this colour? Berry-pink? Hot pink? Here is it called “cerise”. Which ever name you call it, it is definitely my favourite colour of the season! `Mix it with any other bright colour like orange or purple…

So very pretty! This Puff-sleeved V-neck tops come in different colours. Those two are my favourites for the summer!

NEW IN! and so very pretty! Broderie anglaise blouses can be very pricy. This is a beautiful piece for just under £20.
Dreaming of those summer evenings, dining somewhere in a local restaurant close to the beach and drinking a cool wine spritzer in this top and cream skirt…
Such a pretty top with these semi-sheered fabric puff sleeves.
This top screams for summer! Get 25% off full price with code SHOPNOW
This blouse reminds me so much of one of my beloved H&M tops – whenever I get it out, its hot and sunny outside…
Juice Lemon
Tropical Vibes – I own a couple blouses like this one from Mango and they are great! Perfect cut and lovely material.

I hope I could inspire you to some pretty tops and made you dream about those summer days and nights spend together with all our loved ones.

Love, Lena

// WHAT TO DO WHEN THERE IS NOTHING TO DO //

What a strange time we are finding ourselves in! It’s a time where we are making memories as families, good and bad ones…and a time where history is written. The words Coronavirus and COVID-19 are the oficial new words added to the dictionary as of March 2020. One day, in many years when our grandchildren will study about Covid-19, it is our children who will tell on the stories how we spend time in lockdown. Our job is to make sure, they are lovely and happy stories…To quote one of my favourite books and authors, Charlie Mackesy: “The storm will pass.” (from The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse)

Now the “honeymoon period” of – yey, no school, no work, we can stay at home – is over, I hear more and more people saying that they are struggling with the monotony and boredom. However as a parent of small children, you probably don’t even have boredom in your dictionary. You do breakfast, tidy, TRY to work from home, prepare lunch and before you even finished tidying everything away in-between trying to referee between the kids, its already dinner time. I think we all found ourselves in a situation where we felt lost…lost in the day, week, time…And as mums we always try to be the balance scale and the good mood creator. Whenever I feel that my husband is getting a bit snappy, I send him out on a bike ride haha. I am telling you, I will need social distancing from my family including dog when this is all over…

In the meantime, like everybody else, I am trying to make the best out of the situation. We get up early, get dressed! (no pyjamas all day long days here), I even put a bit of mascara, blusher and jewellery on just to feel better. I exercise every day. It gets all the negative frustration out and just sets me for the day. We eat all our meals together which we absolutely enjoyed doing. And we go for long family walks, in the woods, in the South Downs or in fields.

I created a few to do lists (for myself, hubby and the kids) and everyone needs to do at least one job a day. On my to-do list I have for example:

ME:

  • clear out kitchen cupboards (declutter)
  • sort out the utility room.
  • clean oven, dishwasher, washing machine
  • clean windows upstairs & downstairs
  • sort out the girls wardrobes
  • sort out my wardrobe (declutter)
  • put away winter clothes
  • sort out my jewellery box
  • sort out our paper work, sort out kids pictures
  • finally sort all all the wedding pictures

HUBBY:

  • Clean under the stairs
  • Clear out shed
  • Clean car
  • get rid of garden weed
  • seed new grass seeds
  • sort out wardrobe
  • tidy the loft
  • build BBQ area
  • back up phones etc

The lists are endless with jobs which have been due for a long time and to be honest with you, I am a little scared it’s all going to be over to soon and those jobs will remain on the waiting list…To make it fun, we try to do different meal nights, Mexican night with nachos & fajitas, Indian night with a home-made curry or Italian night with pizza and pasta. It’s been fun and the girls love it. The sun is shining and so far we are all in good spirits. What is more important than this really?! And like my eldest daughter says: “the world is healing, Mummy!”

HAPPY FEET // YOUR MUST HAVE SHOE FOR SPRING

Is it Spring yet?! A question on everyone’s mind, that’s for sure! I personally can’t wait to replace all those chunky boots with sandals, mules & my all-time favourite, flip flops (can you ever have enough flip-flops…)?!

I am so excited about the 2020 shoe trend. As you might know, I love a monochrome and minimalistic look! I am also a sucker for bright, colourful outfit inspo! Blair Eadie is my number one inspiration when it comes to colour combination.

As Dior said, ‘You can never take too much care over the choice of your shoes.’

Below is a variety of my favourite spring/summer shoes from candy-coloured mules a la Bottega Veneta to the most comfortable low heeled leather sandals.

  1. Each and every high street strutter and fashionista has lusted after the famous Bottega Veneta mules (left picture) #newbottega. Worn by every influencer and part of the street style outfit of the year. Daniel Lee, the designer behind the Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta is dominating the fashion industry. So many accessory trends of the moment, are taking their own cues from the designer house. No wonder so many high street shops are bringing out their version of his famous mule, including Next. I fell in love with this rather elegant Italian leather mule, the toes are square and appear effortlessly elegant. The heel hight is only 6.5cm, making them extremely comfortable.

2. Braided sandal straps are another big trend – probably the most worn and loved of all time, originating again from Bottega Veneta. I would much rather invest in an original and not the copy, but equally, I don’t want to take on a second mortgage to pay for a pair of shoes! Here are some great alternatives…

3. I definitely fell for these shoes! I just adore the colour and think those mules will dress up any denim outfit. The original (picture links) comes again from Bottega Veneta. Public Desire (middle picture) matched the colour and design almost perfectly. I prefer the H&M version (right picture) as they are from their premium quality range and I cant rave enough about their premium quality collection. The shoes are all so comfortable and the leather is super soft. The narrow foot strap makes the shoe more stable and comfortable on the foot.

4. Sandals – I live in sandals! Some of my sandal collection are over 10 years old and are still going strong! When investing in shoes, I generally look out for good quality and comfort. As a mother of two girls I don’t have time for sore feet, so here is my rainbow selection to wear on a daily basis…

I hope you enjoyed my little round up!

Keep save and happy!

MIDI DRESSES // TRANSITION INTO SPRING

With my curvy figure, I suit dresses best! I went through a phase of trying out anything what’s in fashion “right now” including the oversized look (ended up looking like a tent), crop tops (nah, lets not even start), skinny jeans, bootcut jeans, balloon sleeves and so on. The list is endless and often, I find myself standing in the changing rooms totally frustrated because it doesn’t sit or look right, trying to find faults on my own body…

I receive so many Instagram messages from women asking for fashion advice, and everyone says the same: “after having kids I have completely lost my style, I don’t know what to wear, what looks good and how to combine colours, so I end up wearing the same things again and again…”. My reply is always the same.. that the one piece of clothes which suits every single women is a dress! My wardrobe is full of the most beautiful easy dress up and down dresses and I must say that I also feel most “womanly” when I wear them.

To celebrate the International Women’s Day, here are some of my favourite dresses I found on the highstreet which you can wear with boots now and sandals in the summer…

This dress recently found a place in my wardrobe! Its form the H&M Trend collection (pale pink label). The colour mix is just stunning, I will be wearing mine with an oversized belt to mark the waistline.
Another gorgeous piece from the H&M Trend collection! It reminds me of my caftan I bought last year. It was my most worn piece of the summer. Here an IGTV how to style a caftan.

Love everything about those dresses, the extra long puff sleeves, the mesh, the print and the V-neck.

WOW! Just imagine: a big straw hat, a beach and a sunset! What a beautiful dress!!!
What a beautiful dress which can be worn dressed up and down. I totally would wear this dress to a wedding!
Such an easy to wear dress all year round, and it even comes with the belt!

I hope you enjoyed the little round up and found a favourite piece! And remember, clothes mean nothing until someone lives in them.

5 High Street shops // 5 outfits

From workwear to weekend wear, the High Street is booming with the most gorgeous pieces to get your transitional wardrobe in order. Scroll down to have a look at the five outfits I have created out of all the pieces that have caught my eye…

LOOK 1 – RIVER ISLAND

River Island is definitely right up there when it comes to pretty blouses. I tried to create a head to toe RI casual chic outfit, but I must admit that I had to cheat when it came to a matching handbag. I couldn’t find anything I liked on their website whereas Mango is just thriving with their handbag collection this season.

LOOK 2 – MANGO

Mango! Mango! Mango!

Can I just have your entire collection please!!! Absolutely loving everything. This outfit is one of many I see myself wearing. What I love most about it is, you can just style it up and down in so many ways…

LOOK 3 – TOPSHOP

Layering and boots is still a big topic as the weather frog has not been nice to us so far. I love Topshop dresses, they fit perfectly and they have the most stunning, never dating prints. This dress you could wear all year around, with boots, sandals, mules or trainers…

LOOK 4 – H&M

I have a soft spot for H&M! They are just always spot on when it comes to fashion, making it affordable for every pocket. You never feel too young or too old to wear H&M clothes. Here, I tried to recreate an outfit worn by one of my favourite fashion icons Nina Sandbech @ninasandbech. I had to cheat again with the bag (this time Zara), just because is does complete the look!

LOOK 5 – ASOS

I adore this dress and I do own this coat! I know, its nearly no coat season BUT this one just had be bought!!! Its gorgeous and brightens up any grey day!!!

MY TOP TEN LEATHER PICS // NEW SEASON FAVOURITES

I am pretty confident in saying that leather will never go out of style. Time goes on, but we always go back to those leather trousers, jackets, leggings, dresses, skirts and most recently tops, shirts and bermuda shorts. What is also new, are the colours. We don’t just see the usual black anymore but many bright colours like orange, red, turquoise or lilac too.

Scroll below for some outfit inspirations and all my top picks!

VALENTINO SALVATORE FERRAGAMO COACH
STREETSTYLE

Below are my shoppable top pics!

Below I am wearing my last years pleather shirt (which I bought a size to big) as a shacket with lots of layers underneath! Here is a very similar one from H&M.

NEON LOVE //

Get the glow with this years neon trend! Taking me back to my early 20s, a youthful, eye-catching, pop of colour trend. A bright colour will bring an instant smile to your face. For me it is reminiscent of the multicoloured windbreakers worn by Will Smith in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”.

If we look at photographs from SS20 fashion week, it is clear that NEON is here to stay. From Valentino to Victoria Beckham.

SS2020

A pop of electric blue, hot pink, zesty orange, muted neon or lime green will definitely make you send out in the crowd. It can be difficult to style and achieve a mature, expensive and fashionable look with this colour palette. If you are unsure about how to style neon colours and don’t want to end up looking like a traffic light or 80’s raver! I recommend having one or two smaller key pieces; it can be a belt, hair accessories, jewellery, bag or footwear. Combine neon with neutral shades, such a cream, black, brown & white. Neon is very feminine and intriguing and will attract immediate attention! Below are some of my favourite shoppable neon picks.

JEWELLERY

BELTS

BAGS

HAIR ACCESSORIES
